The Middle School Innovation Support Specialist (MSISS) is a highly motivated, passionate, and creative educator who is a leader in educational technology. The MSISS will drive the integration of necessary technology skills into all aspects of education through curriculum design, collaboration, coaching, and co-teaching with faculty. The MSISS also provides classroom support to faculty and students for academic technology and innovation. The position includes troubleshooting, and enhancing teacher and student knowledge in utilization of existing technology. Working collaboratively with the Director of Technology and Innovation, the MSISS helps teachers explore technology and innovative solutions to enhance the learning experiences of students in the Middle School. The person in this position “speaks teacher” and intimately understands the needs and demands of teachers and instructional technology. The Middle School Science Teacher will be part of a high-functioning middle school science department which meets and collaborates on planning, instructional practices, and assessment creation. As with any teacher at Mayfield Junior School, there is an expectation that this person will be open to feedback, creative discussion, and child-centered in their approach. All teachers at Mayfield Junior School should familiarize themselves with the mission and vision statement and be prepared to actively teach with Holy Child goals in mind.
The Middle School Science Teacher will also be an advisor to a group of approximately 15 students and as such, will be the first point of contact for both those students and their parents. The Middle School Science Teacher should be ready to chaperone class trips, take on typical day-to-day duties such as supervision and carpool duties, and engage fully in all school or division-wide events/experiences. The Middle School Science Teacher is also a part of a grade-level team that supports advisory programming, student support team meetings, and other grade-level planning and events. The 5-8 Math Specialist (MS) will work directly with the Learning Specialists and classroom teachers to make sure all students have opportunities to thrive in math. The MS will assess students and implement remediation strategies based on Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention. The MS will also design support systems and materials for accelerated students.
