College: Texas Christian University
Where did you work?
This summer, I had an incredible experience interning at Audacy in Boston and Coxswain Media on Cape Cod.
What were your primary responsibilities or projects you worked on?
As part of the promotions street team at both companies, I traveled all around New England, attending a variety of events and promoting the radio stations. From engaging with Celtics fans at a watch party in Salem, MA, to the Fourth of July Fireworks beach event in Falmouth, each event was a unique adventure.
What was the overall work environment and company culture?
The work environments in both Boston and on the Cape were fantastic! Everyone I met was friendly, passionate, and eager to teach.
Did your summer job/internship align with your college major?
As a student DJ at KTCU at Texas Christian University, my love for speaking on the radio grew even stronger. This summer, surrounded by like-minded people who shared my enthusiasm, was a dream come true. It enforced my desire to dive deeper into the world of radio.
What did you find the most enjoyable or most interesting part of your job?
The best part? The work didn’t even feel like work. Exploring Massachusetts was new and exciting, making every event engaging and memorable. Two highlights were the Bon Jovi Beach House Concert and promoting the ABBA tribute band at the Barnstable County Fair—both were absolutely unforgettable.
Was there a skill you learned at Mayfield that helped you do your job better?
During my time at Mayfield Junior School, especially on student council, I made progress in overcoming my shyness, and this summer helped me build on that growth. Speaking on the West Pavilion stage in front of students, faculty, and staff was a challenge I welcomed, which contributed to my development as a more confident student. Engaging with listeners and starting conversations started to feel more natural for me.
How did your summer job/internship contribute to your personal growth or self-confidence?
This summer, I discovered that focus is like a superpower. Staying organized and locked in on what I needed to do made everything flow so much better. And when things didn't go as planned, I learned that mistakes are just plot twists that help you level up.
Did your internship change your thoughts or influence your future career path?
I’m beyond grateful for this wild ride and can’t wait to keep fueling my passion for radio!
