This engaging summer program is designed for children entering Kindergarten in Fall 2025, providing a supportive and fun introduction to the exciting world of "Big School." Through a developmental approach, students will build confidence as they explore creative and language arts, strengthen gross and fine motor skills, enhance social interactions, and engage in imaginative play. Additionally, hands-on experiences with robotics introduce foundational problem-solving and critical thinking skills that pair well with learning about numbers, in this course. With interactive activities and a nurturing environment, the program may help ensure a smooth and joyful transition to Kindergarten.

Prerequisite:
Must be Age 4 years 9 mos. or older and entering a Kindergarten Program in Fall 2025.

Note: This is a full morning program for rising kindergarteners.

Course description

Kindergarten students will go on an Afternoon Cruise and bask in a day of games, storytelling, outdoor play, artwork, music, movement and lots, lots more! Our captains of creativity will provide children with a daily dose of imagination and adventure in the afternoon course!

Prerequisite: Must be entering Kindergarten in Fall 2025.

Kindergarteners enrolled in both kindergarten courses are supervised during lunch before transitioning to the Afternoon Cruise Course each afternoon.

All American Sports – Summer of Multi-Sports!

Students of the Multi-sports class will learn the fundamentals of baseball, basketball, soccer, Ultimate Frisbee and cover some flag football basics along the way. Students will practice drills and develop teamwork skills. Games and relays may be included in the program for maximum summer fun!

Beginner Golf

Golf Squad | Grades 1-4
Course Description
Golf Squad at Mayfield Junior School is for both new and continuing students and provides daily opportunities for your child to learn the technical swing mechanics (i.e., putting, chipping, full swing, etc.) as well as the social skills required to enjoy golf, the clubs, and golf course (i.e., vocabulary, etiquette, rules, history, etc.) all under the instruction of LPGA or PGA Professional. Golf is a very challenging and fun sport so, start early and start now…all students welcome! Even if your child already plays, it is great to enjoy daily, convenient lessons from a pro.

Egghead Inventors and Superhero Science

Course Description
This summer, students become real-life inventors on Professor Egghead’s team as they experiment with awesome creations like helicopters, hovercraft, rockets, and catapults and learn the science behind what makes them work! Then they’ll create their very own inventions to take home at the end of each class. Halfway through the session, we'll switch it up and turn into science superheroes as we bend our vision, learn about super smelling, crazy illusions, ultrasonic hearing, and tons more! Each class, Eggheads will learn the science behind super strength and all the other things our superheroes need and take home their experiment to help them be super themselves!

Flag Football is scheduled to premiere at the 2028 Summer Olympics, and this course would be a great way to introduce your child to the art of playing Flag Football! Movement, Rhythms and Games

In this fun movement and rhythm class we dance, we play, and we create rhythms. We dance to our favorite music, become fit with aerobic workouts, learn routines, and tone our bodies with yoga. The goal of this course is to create a network where students can effectively workshop, communicate ideas, and collaborate to create visual storytelling through the medium of film. The course highlights personal growth and discovery with a collaborative effort that will capture the experience and passion of this beautiful art form.

The Movie Makers program has a multi-level module system with sequences that offers learning the basic camera shots, basic editing, 3-point lighting, 180-degree rule and basic stop animation + green screen. Students will also work in groups to create their own personalized films that will be premiered for friends and family at the end of the program.

Course Description
Interested in learning how to play the piano? Join us for an introductory piano course for First and Second Graders with no previous experience. Hands-on playing and learning to read music for the young beginner will be covered in this course. Playing an instrument rather than just listening to music, may be significantly more beneficial to a piano student. Piano playing promotes hand-eye coordination, listening, and emphasis on rhythm and cognitive learning with added writing activities. Ms. Hall will teach this course Monday through Thursday and students will wrap up their week on Fridays with a fun activity that may include musical instruments or music appreciation!

Students are paired with a partner at each keyboard in this fun course. Access to a piano or keyboard is not required for this course.

Sing! Dance! Act! Play! Students will rehearse and perform a short Musical Theater production piece in this fun class! Ms, Aimee will lead students through a journey of memorizing lines, learning new songs and dance moves, working on scenes, and creating scenery and costumes for an end-of-the-summer performance put on by our summer thespians! This is a wonderful course for students who would like to explore the musical theatre genre and learn more about performance art.

Course Description
Drumming is fun…drumming with others is even better! We play on buckets, African djembes and bass drums and always stay in tune with each other. We create rhythms with shakers, frame drums, triangles, wood blocks, pots, and other noisy toys. We will dance, sing, and make our own instruments. Students will also learn about the ukulele and begin to play this fun instrument! Students will begin to learn how to play chords and master a variety of songs in this fun course!

This course aims to improve upon a student’s athletic ability for virtually all sports. The key to success in sports is having a solid athletic foundation. The course will focus on developing skills
in the following areas: Agility, Balance, Hand & Foot Eye Coordination, Speed, Strength, and Smoothness.

Students will be evaluated to determine their individual strengths, and they will be given various exercises to help develop a more solid athletic foundation or improve their abilities if they have already had some athletic experience. In this culinary course, we will discover the art of cooking!
